1) Can you tell me about your REPERTOIRE?
The sky is the limit. Monte Vista Strings offers you a constantly expanding range of repertoire including classical, jazz, sacred music, Latin, popular, and show tunes. We work personally with you to tailor all aspects of the performance you envision.


2) What SIZE OF ENSEMBLE do you recommend for my event?
In general, any ensemble we offer can work in virtually any setting. Factors to consider include the size of the venue, the number of guests, your personal artistic preferences, and your budget. We often recommend a classic string ensemble for ceremony and cocktail music followed by a transition to an MVS Jazz ensemble for dinners and receptions. For a festive touch to any portion of your event, you may consider a MVS-afilliated mariachi ensemble.


3) Do all your ensembles perform the full range of your repertoire?
Generally, yes. However, certain instrument combinations lend themselves more to one style than another. For example, you may wish to add a flute to the ensemble for a classic elegance or a trumpet for that extra touch of majesty. You may also consider a more classic combination of strings for one portion of your event and a jazzier combination of violin and guitar for another.



4) When do we choose the music for our event?
We will guide you through music selection immediately following receipt of your signed contract and deposit.


5) Do you require any special EQUIPMENT?
Generally, we do not. We provide our own music stands and lighting when needed. We do ask that you provide us with one chair per musician.


6) What type of CLOTHING do your musicians wear for weddings and other events?
Men wear a tuxedo and women wear formal black unless otherwise requested.


7) Will you TRAVEL outside the San Antonio area to perform for my wedding or other event?
We frequently perform for out of town events, at times as far as 150 miles from San Antonio. We accept these engagements based on availability. Mileage fee varies with distance.
